Denmark gained a new UNESCO World Heritage Site when Møns Klint was inscribed on the list in July 2025. The dramatic chalk cliffs on the island of Møn are now recognised internationally as a place of outstanding natural value.

The cliffs are striking because they combine beauty with deep time. White chalk faces, clear Baltic water, fossils, woodland paths and rare wildlife make the area feel both scenic and scientific.

World Heritage status does not only bring a label. It can strengthen protection, attention and pride in a landscape that already means a great deal to local people and visitors.

This is a beautiful-world story in the simplest sense. A place that was already loved has been formally recognised as part of the shared natural heritage of the world.
